Sally Govan's (Class of 2011) Archives

After Sally Govan (Class of 2011) graduated this past summer, she headed back home to spend some quality time cleaning house. In her attic she dug out a treasure trove of design work from when she was an art director at Whittle Communications in the late 1980s. Back then she had the good fortune to be able to hire the likes of illustrator—and guest speaker—Elwood Smith (above, left); illustrator Seymour Chwast (below, left); and cartoonist Mark Alan Stamaty (below, right), and to rub elbows with Mad Magazine cartoonist Sergio Aragones, and New Yorker cartoonists Sam Gross, Ed Koren (above, right) and Roz Chast, to name but a few.

Sally says, "Because cartoons involve both words and pictures, I had to become cartoon editor as well as art director. I have to tell you, I never had so much fun."
