3x3 Professional Show No. 9 Deadline: Mar. 9


3x3: The magazine of contemporary illustration's pro show is coming 'round again, and we're excited to announce that this year's panel of judges includes incoming student, SF Weekly art director Andrew Nilsen. Additional judges include New Yorker art director Jordan Awan, London Telegraph art director Gary Cochran, Ogilvy & Mather/Hong Kong creative director Shayne Pooley, and illustrators Brian Stauffer, Valeria Petrone, Rod Hunt, and Marco Wagner.

American Illustration 31 Call for Entries Deadline: Feb 24 

The AI-AP books remain the exclusive resource for top creative professionals who appreciate it's thoughtfully curated selection and who insist on assigning the best artists working today. Winning entries are published in the award-winning, large-format, beautifully designed and printed hardcover annual, as well as in their online gallery.

Create Your Wings and Fly: 2012 Adobe Design Achievement Awards

Honoring students and educators from all over the world for their innovative use of technology and the creative arts, Adobe's 2012 competition is free and open to students, faculty, and staff at higher education institutions worldwide.

There are 13 Student categories (including illustration) and three Faculty/Staff categories, and several judging sessions, the first of which is underway and concludes on Jan. 27.

  • Session 1: Nov. 28, 2011 - Jan. 27, 2012
  • Session 2: Jan. 27 - Apr. 27
  • Session 3: Apr. 27 - Jun. 22
  • Faculty and staff: category submissions close on June 22

Prizes: finalists will receive Adobe software and a trip to Los Angeles, where they will be honored in an awards ceremony during Adobe MAX in October 2012. Category winners also receive cash awards.

PRINT Regional Design Annual Competition Deadline: Mar. 1

PRINT magazine is accepting submissions to it's 2012 Regional Design Annual until the deadline, Feb. 1. Deadline extended to Mar. 1.

Art directors, designers, illustrators, photographers, and typographers working within the US are eligible to enter printed communication that appeared or was published in the US between January 1, 2011, and December 31, 2011. Entry fees are $65 per entry, $90 for a series.

Winning entries will be featured in the December issue of the magazine, on the website, and showcased at the HOW Design Conference.

SOI 2012 Student Competition Deadline: Jan. 30, 2012

For you educators out there: the Society of Illustrators's Student Scholarship Competition is accepting entries now through January 30th. Over 100 works are chosen from more than 7,000 entries submitted by professors of college-level students nationwide. Scholarships and awards are granted to 25 students whose work is deemed best of the best. In the last 30 years, the Society has awarded over $1,500,000 to deserving students, which has opened the door for many of today's top professionals including Kadir Nelson, James Bennett, Gwenda Kaczor, Dan Dos Santos, James Jean and many more.
